Data Deletion Instructions

At EngageAIQ, we respect your right to control your data. This page explains how to request deletion of your personal data and what happens during the deletion process.

1. How to Request Data Deletion

Method 1: Through Your Account (Recommended)

1. Log in to your EngageAIQ dashboard
2. Go to Settings → Account
3. Click "Delete Account"
4. Confirm deletion
5. Your account and all data will be scheduled for deletion

Method 2: Email Request

1. Send an email to: engageaiq@gmail.com
2. Subject: "Data Deletion Request"
3. Include:
   • Your full name
   • Email address used for registration
   • Instagram username connected to EngageAIQ
   • Confirmation: "I request deletion of all my personal data"
4. We will process your request within 48 hours

Method 3: Instagram/Facebook Disconnect

1. Go to your Instagram Settings
2. Apps and Websites (or Connected Apps)
3. Find "EngageAIQ"
4. Click "Remove"
5. This disconnects our access to your Instagram
6. Email us to confirm full data deletion

2. What Data Will Be Deleted

Upon receiving your deletion request, we will delete:

• Your EngageAIQ account information
• Your Instagram access tokens and credentials
• All conversation history and messages
• Your AI style profile and settings
• Your knowledge base and extracted content
• Analytics and usage data
• Payment history (except as required for legal/tax purposes)
• Any other personal data associated with your account

3. Data We Cannot Delete

We may retain certain data as required by law:

• Transaction records (for tax and accounting purposes - 10 years in Romania)
• Data necessary to resolve disputes or enforce agreements
• Anonymized data used for analytics (cannot be traced back to you)
• Backup data (automatically deleted after 30 days)

4. Deletion Timeline

1. Request Received: We acknowledge within 24 hours
2. Service Deactivation: Immediate (your account stops functioning)
3. Primary Data Deletion: Within 7 days (account, conversations, AI profiles)
4. Backup Deletion: Within 30 days (complete removal from all systems)
5. Confirmation: We email you when deletion is complete

5. What Happens to Your Instagram Account

Important: Deleting your EngageAIQ account does NOT delete your Instagram account.

• Your Instagram account remains active and unaffected
• We disconnect our access to your Instagram
• All your Instagram posts, stories, and followers remain intact
• Messages and comments sent via our service remain in Instagram (we don't control Instagram)

6. Partial Data Deletion

You can also request deletion of specific data:

• Delete specific conversations (not entire account)
• Delete knowledge base only
• Delete analytics history

7. Re-Activation

• Once deleted, data cannot be recovered
• You can create a new account anytime
• New account will have no history from previous account
• No data is carried over after deletion

8. Third-Party Data

Data processed by third parties:

• OpenAI: We delete data from our systems, but OpenAI may retain processed data according to their policies (typically 30 days)
• Stripe: Payment data retained for legal/tax purposes
• Instagram/Meta: Any messages sent remain in Instagram's systems (controlled by Meta, not us)

9. Verification

To protect your privacy, we may ask for verification before processing deletion:

• Confirm email ownership (we send verification link)
• Answer security questions
• Provide Instagram username for confirmation
